where is yl in san jose?

Valid question.  San Jose is the nation's capital and largest city.  So where will I be?  I don't know my exact placement yet, but I can offer a quick breakdown of Young Life International Schools in San Jose...

Young Life International Schools has three clubs.  On the west side of San Jose, in the suburbs of Escazu, there is established Young Life (high school) and WyldLife (middle school) club.  Students attend from a total of seven different schools.  Currently, leaders are only able to do contact work in two of the schools:  Country Day School and Lighthouse International School.  YL club began here in 2001 and Wyldlife in 2004.  On the east side of San Jose, a new Wyldlife ministry has recently begun.  Contact work there is done at Marian Baker School and Costa Rican Christian School.

fun fact friday!

Who doesn't love a little trivia?!  Here's the first installment of Fun Fact Friday!!  Hopefully this serves as a way to learn a little more about Costa Rica, Young Life, and who knows what else!

DID YOU KNOW???

Costa Rica only takes up 0.03% of Earth's surface by landmass but is home to more than 5% of the world's biodiversity.  There are more than:

130 species of freshwater fish
160 species of amphibians
208 species of mammals
220 species of reptiles (hopefully these stay far, far away)
850 species of birds
1,000 species of butterflies
1,200 varieties of orchids
9,000 species of plants
34,000 species of insects

Not to mention there are new species being discovered every day!  Whoa.  Can't wait to see some of these things for myself!

pray. meet. give.

It is my desire to bring as many people with me to Costa Rica as possible!  Here are three tangible ways to be in this with me:

pray.
Young Life Costa Rica is not possible without Jesus.  Please pray with me for ministry in CR!
Pray for kids to know Christ.  Pray for leaders and staff to love kids and point them to Jesus.
Pray for logistics of moving to another country and raising financial support.

meet.
I would love to meet with you to tell you more about Young Life Costa Rica
and what I'll be doing there!

give.
There are several needs associated with moving to another country.

Communication
Do you have an old cell phone that uses a SIM card that is unlocked?
Please let me know!  I will be using this to communicate in Costa Rica.

Travel
Do you have more frequent flyer miles than you know what to do with?
Offset the cost of ministry in CR by sharing your frequent flyer miles.

Finances
All financial gifts directly support ministry in CR, which costs nearly $11,000 for ten months.
Please consider giving:

By check payable to Young Life, with X391/Kaylee Regula in the memo line sent to:
Young Life Service Center
Attn: IP
PO Box 520
Colorado Springs, CO 80901

Or online at giving.younglife.org
Select "A Young Life Area Ministry" and click Search.
Search by Area Number X391 and select "CDS Costa Rica Nationals -- X391 International Volunteer with Club".
Please be sure to type Kaylee Regula in the sponsoring line, enter gift amount, specify if it is recurring, and click Add Gift.

Thank you for partnering with me!  I am grateful for your support and look forward to keeping you updated on what the Lord is doing in Costa Rica!
